Greely Park Online Survey
This November, the City of Ottawa proposed a $2,000,000 budget to construct a park south of Parkway Road and West of Water’s Edge Way in the Greely Village Centre development (see the Greely Village Park Design here). Initially, Greely residents were given only two weeks to provide feedback to the City; however, given the importance of the park and following much community pressure, the City of Ottawa has decided to phase the park into two phases and to allow for additional community consultation.
As noted on the sketch above, the first phase of the park is on the east side and is set to be constructed first. The second phase, containing the most contentious uses on the west side, will comprise the second phase of the park. A more detailed park plan is attached with this email for reference.
The City would like to have the design finalized and construction tender out by the end of February. As such, they have extended the consultation period for the first phase until January 15, 2014. The consultation period for the second phase has been extended until September 2014.
A number of community groups in Greely have banded together to design and circulate a survey to tell the City what the community would like to see in this $2M park. We ask that you fill out the short online survey and circulate it to all of your Greely neighbours and friends so that we can get the best park for our community and make the best use of the budget and lands.
The survey takes less than 2 minutes to fill out! Please visit this link to fill out the survey.
The Greely Community Association will host a meeting on January 8, 2014 to present the results of the park survey to the community and to receive additional last minute feedback which will be provided to the City of Ottawa. We invite everyone in the community to come out and participate.
Here is an inventory of possible park ideas to help get you started. This list is by no means extensive. Please feel free to write down any ideas we may have left out and include them in your survey responses.
If you have any questions about the park or the survey, please contact the Greely Action Alliance.
